Newsletter - Fifth Edition: Education, Inspiration & Practice

News from STC:

Dear readers,

We are delighted to provide you with exciting insights into the Sustainable Textile Counselor (STC) project in this newsletter.

The programme is aimed at anyone who wants to be part of the solution: fashion enthusiasts who want to integrate sustainability into their business, people who raise awareness in their communities, educators and trainers who teach the next generation about ethical textiles, as well as career changers who want to transition into a meaningful role, and conscious consumers who want to make better decisions and inspire others.

Our goal is to provide all these people with practical knowledge and tools to make the textile industry more sustainable, conscious and future-proof.

After intensive work, our curriculum is already being implemented: the content is currently being integrated into our e-learning platform and will also be made available in an app.

In this way, we are ensuring that knowledge about sustainable textiles can be experienced in a flexible, modern and practical way.

What does this mean for you?

Practical knowledge: From circular economy and upcycling to sustainable consumption decisions.

Teaching methods: Ideal for educators who want to incorporate sustainability into their lessons.

Inspiration for practice: For professionals in the textile and fashion industry who want to break new ground.

Buy Nothing New initiative

The textile industry is one of the biggest drivers of resource consumption, environmental pollution and waste. At the same time, this is precisely where the greatest opportunities for change lie. An inspiring example of this is the Buy Nothing New Month initiative – a movement that originated in Australia and is gaining increasing international attention.

The idea: don't buy anything new for a whole month – instead, swap, repair, share or creatively reuse clothes and other items.

Why do we think this is important?

  • It brings the STC mission directly into everyday life: conscious consumption, resource conservation and circular thinking.

  • Anyone can join in right away – no prior knowledge or major hurdles required.

  • It shows how small changes in everyday life can have a big impact.
